Month One

9.1_zach_full.jpg

It has been one full month since you were born. That’s a huge milestone. I’ve owned sneakers that didn’t last me a month. We have had a great time getting to know you and learning all about what makes you tick. Just when we think we have found a pattern, you change and we just continue to try. I think it is starting to sink in that we are now a family and that we are going to not only see you through the difficult times you have now, like a gas bubble or a dirty diaper. We are also going to be the ones that get you through things like your first day of school and puberty and drivers training and college, etc. We all have so much to look forward to. It is really overwhelming to think that your Mother and I started dating when we were 20, and in the blink of an eye, 9 years passed, we are married and we have a beautiful son.

You are getting very strong and seem to be getting your own mind. We can’t say for sure but you may be smiling. It seems to happen at the appropriate times. We’ll see how that goes. You really like bath time, so we give you a bath every day. A quick one, one day and a thorough one the next. This is one of the times when you appear to be smiling.

You like going outside when the weather is nice, that’s a good thing. Where we live, an appreciation of good weather is a must.

Right now, nearly everything your Mom and I do, is somehow related to keeping you happy. You are a real handful now, and you keep your Mom and I pretty busy. Most people will find a way to keep themselves busy and make their lives hard. I couldn’t be more pleased that I finally have something worthwhile to fill my time.

Most of the photos that have been published on this site, the really good ones anyway, are courtesy of the talented and generous, Grandpa Mark Place. You can view more of his professional work here.

The Art of Rockin’ Jelly Bean

Rockin Jelly Bean

I first saw the work of RJB about 3 years ago. I instantly fell in love with his style of illustration. For me, it embodies what I’ve always thought of as the ‘1970s’, but much of his great work was done since 2000. It also intrigued me that he was born in Hawaii. Be warned, the subject matter is for adults only.

View a gallery of his work here.

Urban Ninja Launch

I don’t normally talk about work here, but I thought this was a neat project that came out pretty good. We do a lot of work for Ford at my job and we were given the task to create a series of websites aimed at the young asian crowd. The Fusion portion just re-launched today, and frankly it was a lot of work. I’ll bet noone knew I was fluent in Vietnamese.

Ghost Rider Movie

9.2_ghost_rider.jpg

I read comic books through most of my childhood. One of my all-time favorites was Ghost Rider. I even built a couple of model kits of him years ago. When I got wind of a Ghost Rider movie, it took me back. I was 12 years old, in the comic book store, with paper route money in my pocket, all over again. Check out the trailer here.
