This, your third week with us, has been pretty eventful. Your Cousin Eddie, Uncle Eddie and Aunt Jennie came over and brought dinner on Monday. We visited for a while and you got passed around. Cousin Eddie let you know that you are one of the guys with a kiss on the head.

You met Aunt Jo and Cousin Terry when you visited Sittoo’s with Mom and Grandma. You also saw Stefania again and met her daughter, Medeline and Mom, Mrs. Morelli.

On Wednesday, Your Grandpa Mark and Grandma Judy came over and took some cute pictures of you naked. You were very well-behaved and didn’t cry at all. You did however take advantage of the naked time and peed all over me. I don’t mind, wasn’t the first time, nor will it be the last.

You saw the pediatrician again and he told your Mom that you were gaining weight like a linebacker. That’s no surprise given how much you have been eating. You tipped the scale at 9lb 6oz.

Your neck has gottent a lot stronger, as has your grip. You are still enjoying your daytime naps, but we are working to straighten you around to sleeping when the rest of the world does. We’re hopeful, but we don’t hold it against you. This has all been a wild ride so far and we are all still learning.

We took you to meet the gorgeous Zulewski girls on Sunday. You met our friends Mr. Pat and Mrs. Kristine and their daughters Olivia (5 yrs) and Alison (6.5 mos). It was good the see the whole family and especially Alison, as it was the first time we had met her. They don’t think so, but Pat and Kris are hip parents.

Your Grandma Kathey and Papa Roger went to Seattle with Aunt Casey to visit your Aunt Jan, cousins John and Susan and her husband Steve, and Uncle David and Molly. We took you to visit when they got back. They both thought that you grew so much. Your Grandma gave you a present to help keep your parents dry, a pack of Peepee Teepees. Hilarious, but useful for sure.

Another eventful week, Zach. You went through what seems like a lot of changes again this week. You seem to be sleeping even less than before, but your Mom and I might be hallucinating due to lack of sleep. Your umbilical cord stump dropped off and it looks like you are going to have an Inee. The pediatrician told us that you were going to have a big growth spurt at 10-14 days. Your appetite is definitely reflecting that. Your mom can’t keep up so we are introducing you to formula, a little at a time. We also introduced you to your Nuk (pacifier). I think you were looking for a sense of purpose, and sometimes when you go to work on that thing it looks like you are concentrating on the hardest job in the world. Your neck muscles are starting to get a little stronger, you lift your head up and look around. I don’t know if you an see anything that cleary, but it’s not from lack of trying. Your facial expressions are changing and getting more animated, which is hilarious. Your Mom and I are not laughing at you in a mean way.

Your Mom got her c-section staples out and is beginning to feel much better. Not 100% yet but feeling more human.

Your Mom and I took you to the zoo this week. I think you liked the Tiger best. Naw, you slept right through the whole trip. To be honest it was more an exercise for your Mom and me to see how we handled packing up and going across town to do something as a family for a day. Plus it kind of felt like you enjoyed yourself in some way.

We took you with us to vote at the elementary school. Once again you slept right through it.

I went back to work this week and missed you a lot. Work seemed normal except you and your Mom were on my mind constantly. Your mom and I enrolled you in Daycare. Man, if being away from you at work was tough on me. It’s really going to be hard for your Mother.

Zach, Nikki and I wanted to thank all of our family and friends that have been so generous this last week. All of the gifts and time and advice have been so helpful in helping us get accustomed to stop being kids and start caring for one (it still feels like someone made a mistake by letting us take him home). So for all you’ve done (and, sorry, for all we’ll probably be asking you to do in the future) we all say thank you.

Well Zach, you’ve been in the world for seven days now. You seem to be adjusting well to things on the outside. Your appetite sure is healthy. Your mom is beginning to feel like a machine. You spent the first 3 days with the nice nurses at the hospital. They filled us in on the small things that will make you more comfortable and help you transition from inside to outside. You came home with us on August 1st. You’ve been sleeping a lot of the day, but waking up every 1-1 1/2 hours to fill your stomach. Same goes for the night. You sleep for a while, but get hungry and mom feeds you.

You met all of your cousins this week. Max and Addie came to visit with your Aunt Colleen and Uncle Ryan. Mallory and Adam came to visit you with your Aunt Jen and Uncle Chris. Eddie came to visit with your Uncle Eddie and Aunt Jennie. You liked them all very much, your were so quiet and content. They also told us how cute you are. You are going to have lots of fun with your cousins.

You also met Taylor this week. She is your dog. She loves you and can’t stop licking your head. But I make her stop, I don’t want her to mess up your hair.

You went to the pediatrician for the first time. He is very nice and funny. He cares about you very much. He kept saying that when you really cried hard, that you were ‘Really pissed off!’ We also paid a special visit so Dr. V could check out your circumcision. I thought it looked a little too red, but he said that it was fine and normal.

Mom and I took you for a walk in your stroller. You weren’t crazy about the idea at first but by the end you were happier and seemed to like it a little more.

Your mom and I are still in awe at how much we love you and how very happy we are to have you here with us. We are going to help you grow up and teach you things. We are going to do our best to protect you from the world and fill your life with happiness. You sure have brought a lot to our lives. We can’t believe that we are so blessed. We love you Zach.
